Electrical gear
Electrical gear is the transformers, switchboards, panelboards and generator sets that feed a commercial building, and buyers come to surplus because factory lead times run long: new dry-type transformers are quoting 50 to 70 weeks. Surplus and canceled-order units ship now.
Target prices are 20% below typical market. We source each order, then confirm price and quantity in a written quote. Typical lots start at $5,000.
Electrical gear: sizes, grades and specifications
Dry-type transformers run 15 to 500 kVA, 480V delta primary to 208Y/120V or 480Y/277V secondary, in general purpose, K-rated and DOE 2016 builds. Pad-mount transformers are three-phase 150 to 3000 kVA at 12.47kV or 13.2kV primary, mineral oil or FR3. Switchboards and LV switchgear run 800A to 4000A at 480Y/277V or 208Y/120V with MCB, fused switch or MLO mains, and panelboards run 100A MLO through 800A distribution in NEMA 1 or 3R. Generator sets run 100 kW natural gas to 2000 kW diesel with weather or sound-attenuated enclosures.
What to include when you ask for electrical gear
Give the kVA or amp rating, the voltage, the enclosure or mounting, and the date the gear has to be on site. Say whether you can accept a different manufacturer, a nearby rating, or a unit that needs field modification, because alternates widen what we can find. These are quote-only items, and pad-mount transformers are quoting 40 to 65 weeks new, switchboards about 32 to 52 weeks and panelboards 21 to 48 weeks.
Every request goes to the broker desk, not to a seller. See how the quote process works or read the questions we are asked most.
